2011 Photo Affair Awards Announced

Gallery Night at Madison Senior Center

The Madison Senior Center proudly announces the winners for the 2011 A PHOTO AFFAIR contest. The show highlights the outstanding photographic talent and skill of older adults in Dane County. Three professional judges, Tom Miller, Dave Peterson and Daryl Sherman, awarded cash prizes and bestowed honors on many exceptional photographers. The Best of Show award was "Nature's Sculpting" by Mary Beth Riley of Madison. The Award of Excellence went to "Music to my Ears" by Jane Qualle of Madison. The two Judge's Choice awards were given to "Vortex Out of the Blue" by Tommy Mader of Cottage Grove and "Porches" by Donald Sylvester of Madison. Honorable Mention awards were given to "Airshow Performer" by Terry Anderson of Monona, "Sea Lion-Galapagos" by Charlene Sweeney and "Jane Austin's Cottage" by Kathryn Leaderhause, both of Madison. Round of Applause awards were given to "Until Tomorrow" by Edward Steichen of Waunakee and "Youngster to Youngster" by Mary Beth Riley. The Senior Center will celebrate the winners and all of the photographers with an Open House on Friday, October 14 by hosting Gallery Night from 5-8 pm. The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.
