Madison Common Council Proclaims October "Comprehensive Women's Health Month"

Madison, WI - At its meeting last night, the Madison Common Council unanimously passed a resolution proclaiming October "Comprehensive Women's Health Month" and commended comprehensive women's health care providers for their unique, positive contributions to the individual lives of women, men, and children. The resolution, authored by Alderwoman Lisa Subeck and co-sponsored by all Common Council members, mirrors a resolution introduced in the Wisconsin State Assembly by Representative Christine Sinicki and emphasizes the importance of access to comprehensive reproductive health care. "At a time when access to reproductive health care is under attack at the state and federal levels, it is especially important that we protect access to basic reproductive health services such as cancer screenings, STD testing and treatment, family planning, and contraceptives for all Madison residents." said District 1 Alderwoman Lisa Subeck. "In addition to attacks on reproductive health care access by agenda-driven politicians, comprehensive women's health care providers too often face constant harassment and threats of violence."
