Neighbor Notices Smoke From Home Next Door

A neighbor noticed smoke coming from the home next door and called her mom. Her mom told her to hang up and call 911. Fire crews arrived at 4049 Steinies Drive and noticed smoke coming from the single family residence. Entry was made into the home where a quick search found no one was in the home. Firefighters who where assessing the home from the outside, found the basement windows were warm to the touch. Several crews entered the basement, ventilated the area and extinguished a fire within 12 minutes. The homeowner was at work at the time of the fire. The homeowner has insurance. No injuries were reported. The home suffered fire damage to the basement area and smoke damage throughout the home. Red Cross is assisting the resident with emergency needs. Estimated damage is $50,000. The single occupant will not be able to stay in the home as a result of the smoke and fire damage. Fire Investigators determined the fire originated in the basement.
