Firefighters Douse Fire on Ridgeview Ct.
City of Madison firefighters took just minutes to extinguish a fire Monday at 9 Ridge View Court. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 9:38 p.m. The building is an 8-unit, 2-story residential structure. Assistant Chief Jim Keiken had command of the scene. He reported that no occupants were injured. Quick work by the firefighters prevented structural damage. Damages are estimated at $5,000 and all occupants were able to return home. Chief Keiken praised witnesses outside who first spotted the fire on the exterior of the building and called 911. When crews arrived at the scene, they found vinyl siding smoldering on the front of the building. Just last month, firefighters responded to a fire at the same address. That fire was caused by discarded smoking materials deposited in dried potting soil. The two fires are not related. Crews believe hot exterior lights above the patios may have contributed to tonight's fire. A fire investigator will be at the scene today to try and determine an exact cause.
