
ARTspace May - June Exhbitions Announced
Mary Fiore "Living and Dyeing in Color" & Brenda Gratton & Leora Saposnik "It's All in the Details"
The Madison Arts Commission is pleased to announce two new ARTspace exhibitions in the Madison Municipal Building from May 20, 2013 to June 28, 2013. Exhibition hours M-F 8:00-5:00, S 8:00-12:00, closed Sunday Stop by to enjoy Mary Fiore hand dyed batiks in Gallery 1 on the wall across from the Post Office. Mary Fiore creates watercolors, pen and ink drawings, photography and batik. The work in her current exhibition at the Madison Municipal Building highlight's some of her beautifully expressive batik portraits. In the lobby cases you can vies traditional ceremonial Hmong jewelry worn for celebrations ( ex: weddings and New Year). You will also be able to ponder life's little details in the work of artist's Brenda Gratton and Leora Saposnik (pastel on paper and clay) in their exhibition, It's All in the Details in Gallery 2, (located in the hallway gallery across from the post office boxes). Brenda Gratton is a pastel painter and mosaic artist and Leora Saposnik is a ceramicist and mosaic artist. For their two person show It's All in the Details, they share work that focuses on the seemingly mundane, often overlooked details of life. Gratton's work focuses on plant life while Saposnik's art is about the daily interactions of people. The Madison Arts Commission's ARTspace program is open to all Madison visual artists who would like to showcase original two-dimensional works in highly utilized city spaces.
