SNAP/Foodshare participants at two area farmers' markets will have an opportunity to take advantage of the MadMarket Double Dollars program this Sunday. The program allows SNAP/FoodShare users to get a dollar for dollar match, up to $30.00 per person, redeemable at any vendor at one of four participating farmers' markets in the city. This Sunday the program is in effect at the Northside Farmers' Market from 8:30-12:30 and at the South Madison Farmers' Market at the Labor Temple from 11:00-3:00. The program will also be in effect at the Eastside Farmers' Market at Wil-Mar on Tuesdays from 4:00- 7:00, at the South Madison Farmers' Market at the Labor Temple on Tuesdays from 2:00-6:00 and at the Villager Mall on Fridays from 2:00-6:00. Mayor Paul Soglin and representatives from four area health care organizations announced the program last month. The health care providers have contributed funding for the program which will be administered through the Community Action Coalition. The partners hope to bring the double dollars to every farmers' market in Madison next year.
