
Madison Welcomes Sister City Delegation from Freiburg, Germany
A delegation from Freiburg, Germany arrives in Madison today and will be touring various sites in the city and surrounding area through Thursday. The Freiburg delegation will be attending this evening's Common Council meeting where there will be a resolution commemorating the 25th anniversary of the sister city relationship. Mayor Soglin, some City staff and various community and business leaders traveled to Freiburg and met with officials earlier this summer. The German delegation is lead by Freiburg Mayor Dieter Salomon. Also on the trip, the Deputy Mayor, a number of City Council members and other community leaders. While in the area, the group will be visiting various sites including the Madison Children's Museum, the new Central Library, the Wednesday Farmer's Market, Wisconsin Energy Institute, Wisconsin Institute for Discovery, Monona Terrace and other venues. Visits will focus on sustainability and green building practices, as Freiburg is an international leader in sustainability.
