New Amenities Unveiled at Monona Terrace

Madison, WI ---Monona Terrace is closed for renovation thru January 26, 2014. Major projects include replacement of carpet throughout the building featuring a new design by Architect Anthony Puttnam who worked with Mr. Wright at Taliesin; new plug and play workstations at former pay phone areas; enhancement of the artwork on level 4 with a new presentation of the existing Guerrero images, and a photo and poetry exhibition, curated by David Wells, entitled Reflections:Madison. The exhibit will feature colorful interpretations of iconic Madison scenes by local artists. Other upgrades include new digital room signs for easy way finding, a complete renovation of the public restrooms located inside the facility, and a new multimedia gallery, Beyond the Drawing Board: The Journey of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Monona Terrace, created by Boston-based firm Experience Design. Numerous other environmentally sustainable lighting and plumbing upgrades will be taking place. Follow the action on Facebook and Instagram!A Reopening Celebration Open House will take place on Sunday, February 2nd from 1-4pm at Monona Terrace. The public is invited to come see the new updates, enjoy light refreshments and meet the architects, designers, artists and poets that helped make the renovation a success!

Monona Terrace hosts approximately 600 events each year resulting in over $52 million in annual economic impact for the community. In addition, the center produces and sponsors free or low cost community events that serve over 56,000 people each year. The Frank Lloyd Wright designed facility has a mission to be a high quality, customer focused convention and meeting facility that serves as a community gathering place, a tourism destination and a catalyst for economic activity for the City of Madison, Dane County and the State of Wisconsin.
