It is cheese vs. meat

As NCAA brackets are being busted around the country, Madison Mayor Paul Soglin and Lexington, Kentucky Mayor Jim Gray have their own friendly wager on Saturday’s game between the Wisconsin Badgers and the Kentucky Wildcats.

The Badgers of course, take on the Wildcats in the Final Four Saturday evening in Dallas, Texas.

"While Kentucky may have five outstanding freshman, Bo Ryan has a team with drive, commitment, great defense and a will to win," said Mayor Soglin. "I will happily wager some tasty Wisconsin cheese to signify our city’s confidence in the Badgers."

"UK emerged victorious in arguably the toughest region of the tournament. Coach John Calipari’s Wildcats have the talent and determination to go all the way," Gray said. "I don’t know about Wisconsin basketball, but I do know that Wisconsin cheese is great, and I’m looking forward to trying some."

Mayor Gray offered up a gift basket from Laura’s Lean Beef, which is headquartered in Lexington.
