New enforcement effort to target W. Beltline Highway
The Madison Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Safety Team (T.E.S.T.) will soon put Operation Shadow in play along the busy W. Beltline Highway. This will be similar to a MPD program used – with some success - many years ago. It will involve a police officer, dressed in civilian clothes, driving an unmarked MPD car. The officer will be looking for unsafe driving behaviors. When they are observed, the officer will radio uniformed T.E.S.T. members, and they will make the traffic stop. Operation Shadow is aimed at making the W. Beltline safer, with slower speeds, particularly while road construction projects are ongoing. T.E.S.T. may also utilize Operation Shadow on other city streets.
