Global Trade magazine has released its 2014 selections for “America’s Best Cities for Global Trade.” The magazine is known for covering the impact and opportunities global trade has on businesses from Wall Street to Main Street. Every year, the editors at Global Trade magazine compile the list to help globally minded companies strategically locate, grow and expand their operations.

“With a new twist on this year's list, our editorial team identified 10 needs-based and relevant categories that globally minded companies refer to when choosing a new location...being named as a top 100 for global trade is pretty rarefied air,” shared Global Trade editor Patrick Dooley. These ‘needs’ included business environment, global vibe and logistics infrastructure to name a few. The City of Madison was listed as one of the top ten in "Innovation".

Dan Kennelly, Economic Development Specialist with the City of Madison explains, "Madison is indeed becoming a more globally-connected economy.  According to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, the total value of international exports from the Madison region grew by over a billion dollars between 2005 and 2012 and we now export about $2.2 billion of products every year.  Computer products, chemicals, and manufactured equipment are among the region’s top export sectors."

Madison's Business Development Specialist, Ruth Rohlich, wants companies in the City of Madison  interested in starting or expanding exporting programs to call her "There are so many great programs in Wisconsin for businesses looking to expand their customer base overseas. I would love to talk to you about how your company can grow in this space."
