1501 W. Badger and 4602 Sycamore Open Winter Hours

The City of Madison yard waste drop off sites will close for the season at 4:30 p.m. this Sunday, December 7th.  The site at 402 South Point Rd. will close for the season on the 7th.  Residents with leaves and yard waste who do not get their material to the sites this weekend can still bring material to the sites at 1501 W. Badger Rd and 4602 Sycamore Av.  Leaves and yard waste can also be composted or held until spring.

“The yard waste drop off sites close for the season the first weekend in December every year, ” Madison strategic initiatives coordinator George Dreckmann said.  “We staff the sites with seasonal employees whose term of employment ends at that time.”

The Streets Division is going to continue to collect leaves and yard waste at the curb as long as weather permits.

“Most of the leaves in the City have been collected.  It looks like we will be able to collect leaves for at least another week,” Dreckmann said.  “However, we cannot promise that we will be able to get to all the leaves that are currently at the curb.  The best thing you can do is bring your leaves and yard debris to the drop off sites this weekend.”

The self-service drop off sites at 1501 W. Badger Rd and 4602 Sycamore Av will be open winter hours starting Monday December 8th.  Winter hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.  These sites accept a wide variety of materials including brush, electronics, recyclables, and mixed rigid plastic.
