Matthew Mikolajewski Named Madison’s Economic Development Director

Madison Mayor Paul Soglin announced today that Matthew Mikolajewski, Business Resources Manager for Madison since 2007 has been named Economic Development Director.

Mikolajewski previously served as the Executive Director of the Wauwatosa Economic Development Corporation, as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at University of Wisconsin –Milwaukee Department of Urban Planning and as an Assistant Planner in the Village of Elm Grove, Wisconsin.

"This is a critical position in a very exciting time when Madison leads not just Wisconsin but most of the nation in economic growth and innovation," Mayor Soglin said. "Matt has a track record with the City; he knows the issues and has a strong work ethic and an understanding of the players and the process. I am delighted that he has accepted this position."

Mikolajewski succeeds Aaron Olver, who left in July after three years in the position to be managing director of University Research Park.

The Economic Development Director leads the Economic Development Division of the Department of Planning and Community and Economic Development, which oversees the offices of Business Resources and Real Estate Services.

Mikolajewski‘s first day in the position will be February 2. His annual salary will be $110,000.
