City Engineering crews locate, remove blockage within 45 minutes of discovery

The City of Madison had a discharge of untreated wastewater from a sanitary access structure located in the public right-of-way in the 4800 block of Mineral Point Road. The discharge was reported on Friday, March 11,  at approximately 8:45 AM.  Within 45 minutes, City Engineering crews had arrived on-site, located and removed the blockage to prevent further discharge.

Prior to the City crew’s arrival on-site, untreated wastewater spilled onto the street with some entering nearby storm inlets. The responding crew cleaned the affected street storm sewer removing all wastewater prior to any discharge to surface waters.
