Artists Encouraged to Apply for Residency and Exhibition Opportunities

Madison, WI – Artists of all kinds are encouraged to apply for 2018-2019 artist-in-residence and gallery opportunities through the Bubbler at Madison Public Library.

The Bubbler at Madison Public Library is a hub for creative expression amongst people of all ages through art creation and appreciation, engagement with new and old-school technology, and hands-on making. By hosting artists in a free, public space like the library, patrons have the opportunity to enjoy an eclectic variety of art in diverse mediums, making art more accessible to the public. In addition, artists have a platform to connect with a broader audience than they might reach in private galleries.

There are multiple ways artists can get involved. The artist-in-residence program helps provide opportunities for all to learn, share, and create at the library and throughout the community. Residencies last 1-2 months and hired residents receive compensation as well as a monthly stipend. Artists hoping to be considered for the artist-in-residence program must apply by May 7, 2018.

Artists may also apply to have their artwork displayed throughout Central Library in exhibition spaces on the first, second, or third floor. The deadline to apply for artist exhibitions is March 31, 2018.

Established and emerging artists alike are encouraged to apply. There are no parameters on the mediums one must work with to be considered. Tattoo designers, old-school printers, mural designers, coffin makers - the Bubbler welcomes artists working with any material.

The artist-in-residence program, connecting artists to the community and the community to artists, is funded by Scooter Software, Inc.
