Artist Makes Movement for Dance at the Library

Madison, WI – Explore communication through dance with Liz Sexe, Madison Public Library’s artist-in-residence in July and August. Sexe invites members of the public to engage with interpretive movement, create dances, and take part in community-led performances.

Sexe is a dance educator, performer, choreographer and artistic director of Liz Sexe Dance Company. Known nationally for her choreographic work as well as her own performances, Sexe is often described as a “clean and efficient mover” with “toughness under her grace.” She received her M.F.A. in Performance and Choreography from Mills College in Oakland, CA, and is now a lecturer for UW-Madison’s Dance Department.

During her residency, Sexe will explore movement as a form of communication, creating dances with intention that can be shared and interpreted. Her workshops and open studios welcome all ages and abilities to create dances of their own, enjoy improvisational movement, and watch Sexe Dance Company and community members perform. All events are free to attend but registration may be required.
