You’re invited to help the MPD fight crime
The MPD has established a surveillance camera registration page on its website, and it is hoped the new crime-fighting tool will help make for a safer community. Business and homeowners are invited to register surveillance or security cameras with the MPD. The database includes addresses where cameras are located. This will provide investigators with quick contact information when they are searching for video evidence.
Currently, officers and detectives need to canvass areas where crimes have occurred to see what cameras might be present. The process can be time-consuming and time is often of the essence when criminals are on the run.
