Earth Day Challenge - Saturday, April 27
For over 20 years, Madison Parks and the City of Madison have hosted the Earth Day Challenge honoring Earth Day and recruiting volunteers to assist in cleaning up a park. This year, on Saturday, April 27 more than 900 volunteers will be picking up trash, raking, weeding and removing debris at a record 39 Madison parks from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Madison Parks supply each location with gloves and trash bags. Volunteers often bring their own yard tools to assist in the project.
On Saturday, Mayor Rhodes-Conway, Alder McKinney and Parks Superintendent Knepp will kick-off the Elver Park - Earth Day Challenge event at 10:00am from the park shelter, located at 1250 McKenna Blvd.
A number of parks throughout the city are still in need of volunteers and listed here. Registration is open through 10:00am Friday, April 26. If you miss the registration deadline, you are welcome and encouraged to come out to any park listed.
