Streets Division Drop-off Sites Set to Re-Open April 24 with New Restrictions
posted
Sites will have modified hours and limited number of residents allowed in at one time
On April 24, 2020 the Streets Division drop-off sites for Madison residents will re-open with new restrictions and new hours to help keep residents and staff safe.
The drop-off sites that are set to open are 1501 W. Badger Rd, 4602 Sycamore Ave, and the yard waste only site at 402 South Point Rd.
The Streets Division offices will remain closed to walk-in customers. The brush processing and mulch site at 121 E. Olin Ave. also remains closed to the public.
Only Two Vehicles in Drop-off Area at Single Time
In an effort to help residents maintain social distance from each other and Streets Division staff, only two vehicles will be allowed into the unloading area of the drop-off sites.
Residents visiting the sites should expect to encounter lines and long wait times before being allowed to use the drop-off sites.
Residents are encouraged to have their proof of Madison residency ready, and all items requiring a fee sticker for disposal should have the sticker prior to arrival at the sites. These steps will help keep the line moving.
Modified Drop-off Site Hours
The drop-off site hours will be different than in years past. These hours will remain in effect until further notice.
Residents must unload and depart from the drop-off sites by the posted closing times. No unloading is allowed after or before the hours of operation.
Staff will allow vehicles into the unloading area up to 10 minutes before the closing time. All others waiting in line at that time will be directed to return another day. This will ensure that all residents have unloaded their vehicles and exited the facility in time.
The new drop-off site hours of operation are as follows:
- Monday – 7:30am to 3:00 pm
- Tuesday – 7:30am to 3:00 pm
- Wednesday – 7:30am to 3:00pm
- Thursday - 7 :30am to 3:00pm
- Friday – 7:30am to 3:00pm
- Saturday – 9:00am to 4:00 pm
- Sunday: Closed.
The Streets Division offices remain closed for walk-in customer service.
All items that require a fee sticker, like televisions, must be purchased before arriving at the drop-off sites.
Items that require a sticker must have it affixed to them to be accepted. A confirmation email of an online purchase is not sufficient to drop off an item that requires a recycling fee sticker. The sticker must be on the item.
Information on which items that require a fee sticker and how to purchase them can be found on the Streets Division website and the Recyclopedia.
All Drop-off Site Rules Remain in Effect
Drop-off sites are for City of Madison residents and taxpayers only. Contractors may not use the drop-off sites.
Residents are restricted to one load of material that would fit into the back of a standard-pickup truck or small trailer. Oversized loads will be denied use of the sites.
Residents will also be restricted to one trip a day.
A chart of what can be accepted at the drop-off sites can be found on the Streets Division’s website.
