Wilson Street Garage, Ready to Re-Open on Tuesday, March 16

posted

The City of Madison Parking Division will re-open the Wilson Street Garage on Tuesday, March 16th. A number of completed tasks, repairs and inspections have been completed to safely reopen the garage, following a sprinkler malfunction on February 20th that resulted in the temporary closure. Re-inspection of all sprinkler heads in the garage will be done as a preventive measure, with upper parking levels to be inspected on Monday during the closure, and lower levels completed on Tuesday, March 16th. For the safety of workers performing inspections, the lowest levels of the garage will be closed to parking and vehicular traffic on Tuesday where inspections are occurring, however, users should not anticipate notable disruption during this time.

A few things to consider prior to the re-opening of the garage:

  • The temporary expanded access of Monthly Parking Permits at alternate locations will conclude on Thursday, March 18th. Beginning Friday, March 19th, the access cards will only allow entrance/exit at the Wilson Street Garage.
  • From 5am Monday, March 22 to 8pm on Thursday, March 25, due to the removal of a tower crane, the East Doty Street entrance of the Wilson Street Garage will not be accessible. Please use the East Wilson Street driveway to enter/exit during that period. Pedestrian areas will remain accessible from the Doty Street elevators/stairwell during this driveway closure.
  • Corrective and preventive measures have been made, and additional improvements to further mitigate conditions that contributed to the closure related to temperature, drainage, and waterproofing will be completed to prevent issues in the future.
