Blair Street South Project Resumes Work on E. Washington Ave.

posted

(MADISON, Wis.)—Construction for the Blair Street South project will resume at 9 a.m. Monday, March 20, as the project shifts its focus to the E. Washington Avenue intersection.

This phase of the project will focus on improvements to infrastructure, including water, sanitary and pavement. The following changes will take place:

  • Vehicles traveling northbound on South Blair Street will be merged toward the median.
  • Vehicles traveling outbound/eastbound on E. Washington Avenue will be merged to the median lane.
  • The sidewalk along eastbound E. Washington Avenue between Blair Street and Blount Street will be closed.
“As we did on the first phase of the project, we are working to minimize disruptions,” City of Madison City Engineer Jim Wolfe said. “We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during this time.”

The existing bus stop access will remain. Meanwhile, periodic work along S. Blair Street and John Nolen Drive will be ongoing.

The entire project is slated to be completed by the fall of 2023.
