Author of Northwoods, Amy Pease, to Speak at 24th Annual Book Club Café event at Madison Public Library
MADISON, WI -- Local author Amy Pease will headline the 24th Annual Book Club Café hosted by the Friends of Madison Public Library on June 27 at Central Library. Pease will discuss her debut mystery novel Northwoods–which is set in Northern Wisconsin–and was described by People magazine as “a riveting debut by a nurse practitioner with an insider's view of the opioid epidemic."
“The Book Club Café is an annual event sponsored by the Friends of Madison Public Library to give book club members and individual reading enthusiasts an opportunity to get together and show their support for the library system,” said lead organizer and Chair of the Monroe Street Library League Carol “Orange” Schroeder.
Attendees receive coffee, tea and pastries from Blue Plate Catering, and copies of Northwoods will be available for purchase thanks to A Room of One’s Own Bookstore. People can also participate in a book gift bag raffle for a small additional fee, which enters them into a drawing for the chance to win one of eight mystery bags full of new or almost-new titles.
One of the popular returning features of the Book Club Café is the complimentary Book Club Favorites booklet that each attendee receives.
“This booklet contains titles submitted by book club members with their registration. So it’s full of great reads, and serves as an invaluable guide when looking for inspiration for what to check out next from the library,” said Schroeder.
Book Club Café tickets are $25 each, and pre-registration is required. Registration forms and more information are available at madpl.org/bookclubcafe or in-person at library locations.
