Resources for the Madison Community
Madison stands with the families of Abundant Life community. This page is dedicated to connecting victims and the broader community to resources and accurate information about the tragic events that happened on December 16.
Name Our Electric Collection Trucks
The Streets Division now has Wisconsin’s first two electric trash collection trucks in Wisconsin. We are calling on you to help us choose names for our two new electric vehicles. The names should be, well, electrifying.
The City will be taking submissions from you, narrowing the suggestions down to a group of finalists, and with the help of Wisconsin Clean Cities, we will be running an election to choose the names of our trucks.
How to Submit Your Buzzworthy Names
Email your name suggestions to dropoff@cityofmadison.com. Since there are two trucks eligible to be named, you can submit names for either vehicle or both.
If the name you would like to choose is for a specific truck, please make that note in the email. If you do not have a preference, just submit your names.
Suggestions will be accepted until 4:00pm on October 1, 2024.
The Kind of Names We’re Seeking
We are looking for unique, playful, and fun names that will represent Madison’s character, wit, and charm. And those that are just funny, weird, or would make people smile when they see this truck drive through their neighborhood.
Please keep your suggestions family friendly and light. Puns are, of course, encouraged.
And to save you the submission, Trashy McTrashface is already on the list of suggested names. There’s no reason for anyone to submit that one. But we can certainly do better than that, Madison. Let’s go.
About the Election Process Once the finalists have been selected, the election will be held on the Wisconsin Clean Cities website.
The election will be held sometime after October 1, 2024.
The date is to be determined as it will depend on the amount of time it will take to select finalists for each truck.
The date will be announced when voting begins, and the election will be open for a period of time so people will have time to vote.
Additional Information
More information about the trucks, including photos, and more information about the election process can be found on the Streets Division’s website.
