Public Election Equipment Test Rescheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 30

posted

The public is invited to observe the City of Madison public test of election equipment on Wednesday, October 30. The public test will begin at 9:00 a.m. at 2713 E. Washington Ave.

Before each election, the Clerk’s Office conducts thorough testing of its DS200 tabulators to verify that votes will be tallied accurately on Election Day. After testing each machine, Clerk’s Office personnel secure the ballot box and scanner with tamper-evident seals that contain unique serial numbers. The serial numbers are documented on each polling location’s Inspectors’ Statement. On Election Day, poll workers verify these serial numbers as they open the polls.

The goal of the City Clerk’s Office is that each eligible voter will be able to cast a ballot and have that ballot counted.
