Statement on Bus Collision
For Immediate Release
February 25, 2025
"Tonight, a Metro bus collided with a restaurant on Milwaukee Street. According to the Madison Police Department, the driver was attacked by a passenger, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and drive into the restaurant. Paramedics evaluated two people, including the bus driver, for minor injuries, and one person was taken to a local hospital. All other passengers were thankfully unhurt. The MFD Heavy Urban Rescue Team was also called to scene to clear debris and shore up the building.
Our concern is, first of all, for the safety and well-being of the driver and passengers. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, but this was clearly an alarming incident for all involved. It is also concerning that violence was directed toward one of our drivers. Metro employees are valued public servants whose work is important to the lives of our residents, and they should be treated with respect."
