The public is invited to observe the City of Madison public test of election equipment this Saturday. The Clerk's Office intentionally schedules the public test on the weekend to make it accessible for the community.

Before each election, the Clerk’s Office conducts thorough testing of its DS200 tabulators to verify that votes will be tallied accurately on Election Day.

“Interested in learning how our election equipment works?” asks Mayor Rhodes-Conway. “As part of the City’s commitment to complete transparency, you have an opportunity to take a look at the equipment and learn how it works this Saturday.”

After testing each machine, election staff secure the ballot box and scanner with tamper-evident seals that contain unique serial numbers. The serial numbers are documented on each polling location’s Inspectors’ Statement. On Election Day, poll workers verify these serial numbers as they open the polls.
