Metro Statement on Recent Driver Assault
On Sunday, March 30, a Metro operator was assaulted during their work shift.
Violence against Metro or other City employees is completely unacceptable.
Metro Transit staff are reviewing this latest incident, examining current policies and procedures, and will take any necessary measures to enhance driver safety.
Staff will put together an incident review board made up of drivers, supervisors and other union representatives to review each of these recent events to make sure all of the correct actions were taken, all protocols were followed, determine what went wrong and what can be done to prevent similar situations in the future.
Review committee findings related to these incidents will be shared with driver staff and added to new driver and refresher driver training courses.
Eliminating these incidents and ensuring the safety and well-being of all drivers and passengers continue to be Metro’s number one priority and concern.
