Compost Bin and Rain Barrel Sale Saturday May 7th

The City of Madison and Dane County will hold their annual home compost bin and rain barrel sale on Saturday May 7th. This one day only sale will feature the Earth Machine Home Composter. The Earth Machine will be on sale for $45 tax included. Also on sale will be the Systern rain barrel for $55. "The bin sale is a very popular event and this year we will have 1,000 bins and 1,000 rain barrels available," Madison recycling coordinator George Dreckmann said. The bins and barrels will be sold at the Alliant Energy Center from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Or while supplies last. People should use the Olin Av entrance. The bins sale will be held rain or shine and bins are sold on a first come first served basis. The sites will accept cash or checks, Visa and Master Card. "You do not need to be a Madison or Dane County resident to purchase a compost bin," Dreckmann said. "You can also purchase as many bins as you would like." Limited Number of Bins and Barrels on Sale in Middleton In addition to the Alliant Energy Center site, there will be 200 compost bins and 50 rain barrels on sale at the Middleton Public Works Garage at 3300 Laura Lane. The price for the bins and barrels will be the same. The Middleton site will be open from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Middleton site will only take cash or checks, no credit cards.
