Madison's Central Library Looking for Artist Submissions

posted

Application Deadline August 20, 2013

There are two juried art opportunities related to the opening of the new Central Library of Madison Public Library. In the main gallery space, there will be a juried art exhibition for 2D work titled Q & A that will go up at the beginning of September and run through October 30. Artists may submit up to two pieces (max. dimensions 48"x48"), and the title of each piece must be either a question or an answer. There will be a one-day library fundraising art event called STACKED on September 19. Artists may submit up to two proposals for video, performance, installation, site-specific sculpture, etc. This work will be spread throughout the entire library for STACKED. If your proposal is accepted, there will be opportunities to see the available space in late August. Works for both opportunities will be selected by jurors Trent Miller (Madison Public Library Gallery Director) and David Wells (Edgewood College Gallery Director). Work will be juried on quality of work, fit for each show, and available space. (Note: if applying for both shows, please submit two applications.) To apply, artists must fill out an online application form and email images or video links to madisonbubbler@gmail.com by August 20th. Artists will hear back about their proposals by August 26th. Online application available at http://madisonbubbler.org/art-opportunities/ In the fall of 2013, Madison's Central Library will add an art application process for artists to submit work for group and solo exhibitions.
