Sewer Spill on City Construction Project

Ramsey Court Cleaned Up

The City of Madison had a discharge of untreated wastewater from a sanitary sewer located at Ramsey Court.

Speedway Sand and Gravel, a contractor on a City project was bypass pumping sewerage at this location, as part of some downstream, permitted sewer construction. At approximately 1:45 PM on Monday, August 1st, the hose on the pump failed. The Contractor quickly addressed the problem. It is estimated that approximately 50 gallons of sewerage was spilled. The City was on-site and immediately performed necessary cleanup.

At this time there are no adverse impacts anticipated to the public or the environment and no sewerage was discharged to downstream receiving waters.
