The Madison Common Council, last year created a special task force on city government
to examine and make recommendations on the structure and powers of the Mayor’s
Office, Common Council, and the City’s Boards, Commissions, and Committees.

The task force has been meeting monthly since February and plans to issue a report with
recommendations to the Common Council in mid-2019. The task force is currently
collecting information and input from current and former government officials in
preparation for conducting a larger public outreach process.

The Task Force on Government Structure website, www.cityofmadison.com/task-force-on-government-structure
includes task force membership, specific issues that the task force is examining, a list of meetings and events,
and how you can participate in the process. All meetings of the task force are open to the public.

The next two meetings of the task force will be held on July 20, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in
Room 354 of the City County Building, 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., and on July 30, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.,
in the Pinney Branch Library, 204 Cottage Grove Road.
