1. Resources for the Madison Community

Madison stands with the families of Abundant Life community. This page is dedicated to connecting victims and the broader community to resources and accurate information about the tragic events that happened on December 16.

FEMA General Information

Due to the City of Madison’s Zoning Code Ordinances that limit development in flood-prone areas, there are very few homes in the FEMA and DNR-defined 100-year floodplain in the City of Madison.

You can find out if your property is within a FEMA floodplain by using an address search at the Map Service Center Website. FEMA Map Service Center is the official repository of FIRM maps and other floodplain mapping products such as Letters of Map Amendments and Flood Insurance Studies.

If you would like to fill a floodplain area to elevate your property, follow the City’s, DNR and federal processes.

For additional questions about floodplain management, development, or map revisions please contact the Zoning Office at 608-266-4551.
