State Street Campus Garage Mixed Use Project
The original footprint of the State Street Campus garage, constructed in 1964, is located between N Lake St and Hawthorne Ct. In 1982, the 542 space addition at 430 N Frances Street was constructed.
On December 27, 2023, the City of Madison closed the original Lake Street structure for redevelopment. The Frances Street structure remains open to the public.

Earth retention and mass excavation continue and is expected to be complete by the end of May. The project tower crane was erected the weekend 4/20/24 – 4/21/24. This crane will be used to construct the parking garage and Phase 2 housing. Site sanitary connections are complete and storm and water will be complete this month. Foundation work has started and will continue for several months. The Contractor expects to pour the first elevated slab in June.
Time lapse images of the project are available during construction. The site switches between two angles and provides a new still image every few minutes.
