Election results
Thank you to everyone that voted on Tuesday. Citywide turnout was just 31% of registered voters compared to 89% turnout for the presidential election in November. District 15 had a slightly higher turnout rate at 34%, but still only a fraction of the 91% turnout we had in November. There are no elections scheduled for this fall, so barring a special election the next chance to vote will be for the 2022 Spring Primary election on February 15th.
Jill Underly was elected as State Superintendent of Public Instruction with 57% of statewide votes (80% of Dane County votes). Results of the referendum questions showed a high preference for keeping the size of the common council at 20 alders (66%) and to set term limits if the role were to transition to full-time (68%). The results were a little closer for the questions of moving to 'full-time' alder positions (55% against) and for moving to a 4-year term (53% against).
The TFOGS Final Report Recommendations Implementation Work Group will be discussing the results of the advisory referendum at its meeting on Wednesday of this week. You can find the details for that meeting here.
Vaccination info
Vaccination eligibility was opened up last week to anyone age 16 and older. Dane County residents can sign up for COVID vaccine appointments at the Alliant Energy Center and other locations. Find more information in English and Spanish.
