Sheboygan/Segoe Redesign
August 8, 2024 Update
Work on Sheboygan Avenue is complete, and the base layer of asphalt has been laid on Segoe Road. Restoration is also nearly complete on Segoe Road. Over the next couple weeks, the contractor will work on replacing key median sections with lower, rolled curb for better fire access to Segoe Road. When that work is completed, the final layer of asphalt will be laid, pavement markings and signage will be placed, and the project will be finished. We are still targeting an early September opening day for Segoe Road, but construction may continue beyond that on the BRT station at Segoe and Sheboygan. Thank you to everyone for your patience during this construction process.

Hear from Project Manager Mario Galindez for this project in Street Meets 2024:
Segoe Road will be reconfigured from 2 lanes in each direction to 1 lane in each direction from Regent Street to Sheboygan Avenue. with the layout shown in Exhibits B and C. This will include median protected bike lanes for safe and comfortable bike access. Additionally, pedestrian crossings will be improved at the intersections of Segoe Road and Sawyer Terrace, Segoe Road and Heather Crest, Segoe Road and Vernon Boulevard, and the north side of Segoe Road & Regent Street. These improvements, which include median refuges and shortened pedestrian crossings, are designed to lower vehicle speeds and improve roadway comfort and safety for pedestrians. A push button flashing pedestrian signal will be installed at Segoe Road & Heather Crest crossing. The traffic signal at Segoe Road & Sawyer Terrace will be reconstructed and placed back after the project is complete.
Sheboygan Ave. will be reconfigured to add buffered bike lanes from Whitney Way to Segoe Rd. (see Exhibit D below). The mid-block crossing on Sheboygan Ave. between Eau Claire Ave. and Segoe Rd. will be reconfigured to match the next phase of the Madison Yards project which is on the north side of the street. This project will no longer impact the traffic light at Segoe Road & Regent Street. The signal will remain in place for the foreseeable future.
This project design team is working in conjunction with the ongoing Madison Yards development team north of Sheboygan Avenue between Eau Claire Avenue and Segoe Road and the BRT team which is adding two new stations in the project limits.Learn more about the BRT Project.
