Cheers to 40 Years!

September is National Senior Center Month, and the Madison Senior Center (MSC), located in the heart of downtown Madison, has been an anchor for older adults since it opened in 1983. This month, the MSC is very excited to announce our 40th Anniversary of Honoring and Celebrating the Aging Community. The MSC was the first building in the City designed to serve the needs of Madison’s older generations and over the last 40 years, has provided opportunities for older adults to engage in healthy living education and activities.

Please join us on Thursday, September 21, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm, at 330 West Mifflin Street. A program will begin at 4:30 pm, featuring a few words from the City of Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, a brief history of the Madison Senior Center, a performance by the Sunshine Arts and Culture Group and live music featuring Mtrane Plus.

We will also celebrate and recognize individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to improving the lives of older adults, and unveil an art exhibition titled Our Madison: Aging Vibrantly. The exhibit features local and regional artists, and highlights older adults both as the subject matter and as the creative force behind the art. Featured artists include Jerry Butler, Phil Salamone & Atwood Atelier, Babette Wainwright, Yusef Bin-Rella and Hedi Rudd.
