Spring Ephemerals ~ Join Mary Brinkley on a free, family-friendly guided walk in Warner Park to celebrate the return of Spring!  Ephemerals are flowers that bloom in woodlands while trees are still bare and sunlight reaches the ground. Warner Woods is reportedly the oldest uncut woods in Madison.  Recent removal of invasive early-greening buckthorn has resulted in a surprising variety of beautiful native wildflowers and more are being restored. We will look for the blotchy green lancet (spear shaped) leaves and white flowers of Trout Lily, the cheery yellow of drooping Bloodroots, delicate Dutchmen's Breeches hanging in a row like laundry on a line, bright white three-petaled Trilliums, Mayapple blossoms hidden beneath large leafy umbrellas, yellow striped leaves cupping Jack in the Pulpit, and other Spring Ephemeral Wildflowers along the path?

Walks at Warner Park held on the 3rd Sunday of every month are co-sponsored by Madison Bird City FUN partners Wild Warner. Meet at the "rainbow" Warner Park shelter by the lagoon. Parking is available nearby. No registration is required. No pets are allowed.
