Friends of Madison Public Library BIG Book Sale

MADISON, WI -- Seven library Friends' groups are pooling their inventory for a large sale of gently used and donated books. The sale takes place Saturday, June 29, 2024, 9am-3pm, rain or shine, at the Madison Public Library Service & Support Center at 1301 W. “The joint book sale has become a popular annual event for Madison’s book lovers and library supporters alike,” said Tom DeChant, President of the Friends of Goodman South Madison Library, and one of the coordinators of this year's sale. “Each year, this sale raises thousands of dollars to support Madison’s libraries, and we’re excited to see it continue to grow.”

Sale items will be replenished throughout the day, and there will be a bag sale from 1-3pm for $5 per bag. Friends accept cash, check or credit card payment.

Prices include:

  • hardbound books $2
  • paperback books $1
  • children's hardbound books $1
  • children's paperback and board books $.50
  • CDS, DVDs, and audiobooks on CD $1

To add to the shopping experience, the Taquitos Marimar Food Truck will be on site from 11am-2pm, offering "healthy Mexican," with a local emphasis. Expect to see things like whole wheat tortillas and delicious staples like tacos, gorditas, tamales, burritos and quesadillas. Extra parking will be available in the Coakley Relocation Systems parking lot, adjacent to the Library’s Service & Support Center.

Participating Friends' groups include those for the Central, Goodman South Madison, Hawthorne, Lakeview, Meadowridge, Monroe Street, and Pinney libraries. Interested people can also learn more about becoming Friends’ members or volunteering at the sale.
