• Finance Committee: The Finance Committee meeting will take place on Monday, July 22, in virtual format at 4:30 p.m. Agenda items include authorizing the scheduling of a referendum relating to exceeding the municipal property tax limits in the City of Madison.

• Board of Health for Madison and Dane County: The Board of Health for Madison and Dane County meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 23, in virtual format at 5:30 p.m. Agenda items include accepting funds for the WIC program, accepting funds for the evaluation of harm reduction strategies, and accepting funds for the Maternal Child Health program.

• Board of Public Works: The Board of Public Works meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 24, in virtual format at 4:30 p.m. Agenda items include awarding a Public Works contract to complete the Warner Park Community Recreation Center expansion project.

• West Area Plan Review Process:  The final draft is now available The West area Plan was introduced at the Common Council meeting on July 16th. Boards, Commissions, and Committees will now review the draft Plan before it returns to the Common Council for a final vote on September 10th. This is an opportunity for the public to comment on the draft at each of the meetings listed below. Agendas and participation instructions can be found on the meeting information pages linked below, typically posted one week in advance.

  • August 5 – Landmarks Commission

• Public Safety Summit, Tuesday, July 23: Madison Police Department staff and other community leaders are hosting a Public Safety Summit. The goal of the summit is to understand current safety trends in our city and the strategies employed to prevent crime. Panelists will discuss opportunities for collaboration to enhance safety in Madison.
• Learn to Standup Paddleboard, Tuesday, July 23: Learn to Standup Paddleboard with Madison Boats! Register online for this free class offered at Marshall Park. Beginners will learn basic information about equipment and proper technique. After a few demonstrations, participants will learn how to balance with a chance to practice their new skills!

• Capitol View Farmers' Market, Wednesday, July 24: The Capitol View Farmers' Market is held weekly on Wednesdays (3:00-7:00pm) from late May through mid-October. • Live at The Glen: DJ Pain 1, Friday, July 26: Madison Parks Foundation is proud to present Live at The Glen! Enjoy music on the patio at The Glen Golf Park. DJ Pain 1 is performing for the Live at The Glen on July 26. DJ Pain 1 is a multiplatinum producer and DJ whose production credits include Jeezy, Ludacris, Rick Ross, Lil Baby, 50 Cent, Public Enemy, Meek Mill, 2 Chainz and many more.
•  District 11 Town Hall: " Tenants' Rights" (Hybrid), Tuesday, July 30th at 7:00 pm in the Sequoya Library and on Zoom. Joining us will be Hannah Renfro, a District 11 resident and the Executive Director of the Tenant Resource Center and Ximena Linares-Rodriguez, Mediation Services Lead at the Tenant Resource Center. The topics covered at the town hall will include landlord-tenant relationships and rental agreements, rent increases, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), and considerations regarding student tenants. There will also be dedicated time for a Q&A session. This event will be in a hybrid format. • New District 11 Book Club: "Gone for Good? Negotiating the Coming Wave of Church Property Transition?" (In-person only) Wednesday, Aug 14, 2024, 7:00pm to 8:30pm at the Sequoya Library.  To explore the topic of evolving church and community property, the next District 11 Book Club will be a discussion of the 2024 book edited by Mark Elsdon, Gone for Good?: Negotiating the Coming Wave of Church Property Transition . Copies of the book are available for book club attendees to check out in advance at the Ask Desk at Sequoya Library, first-come first-served. The August 14 discussion will be facilitated by Alder Tishler with authors Mark Elsdon, Nadia Mian, and Curt Paulson. All community members are welcome to attend and bring a friend!
