Road Closures – Wilson Street Intersections at S Pinckney and Martin Luther King
Starting Thursday, August 8, R.G Huston will be installing asphalt binder on the north half of Wilson St, between S. Pinckney St and Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. Traffic control devices will begin to be placed starting at 12pm. Most of the work will take place in the already closed traffic lane.
Work Areas:
- South Pinckney Street & Wilson Street intersection
- Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard & Wilson Street intersection
These intersections will be closed while R.G Huston is working in the area. Vehicles will be able to travel southbound on Martin Luther King Jr Blvd and S. Pinckney but will need to make a U-turn and exit on Doty St.
R.G Huston will allow vehicle access to these intersections once the asphalt binder cures and general traffic can return. Paving operations should conclude around 4pm.
Impacts to Wilson Street Garage:
There will be a 20 to 30 minute timeframe, likely between 1 pm and 3:30 pm, where the Wilson Street entrance/exit to the City-operated garage will be closed. During this time, all vehicles will need to exit the Wilson Street Parking Garage onto Doty Street. No vehicles will be allowed to enter the parking garage until the pavement is ready to drive on.
Upcoming Wilson Street Lane Shift:
Once the lane that is currently closed on Wilson St is paved (8/8), traffic will be switched to this newly paved lane to allow the contractor to work on the south side of Wilson St, between Pinckney St and Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, following paving operations.
