Firefighter/EMT Michael Green

Where are you stationed?
I am currently assigned to Station 4 on the ‘A’ shift.

Why did you want to pursue this career?
I became interested in the fire service because it wasn’t like any other job. Every day is different. It seemed like the fire department would be called for almost any situation and I was impressed how firefighters would always resolve the issue. I wanted to learn how to do all of these things and in this career, there is endless amounts of learning. This career gives you the opportunity to work as a team and serve the community when people are in need of help, which can make a big difference in someone's life.

What is something you love about Madison?
Madison is a very lively place. There are fun and unique events going on in the city constantly. People in the community are always coming together to enjoy what the city has to offer.

What advice would you give to someone hoping to join the MFD?
Become involved in your community. Reach out to your local fire department, ask questions, enroll in classes related to fire/EMS. Find things that interest you and learn all about it. Part of what makes the fire service great is that it is made up of people with diverse backgrounds and knowledge. Everyone has something to bring to the table and can help teach others, so we are able to help serve the community in any given situation.
