While the instructor, Brian Willis, has several years of experience working with Law Enforcement, this training is applicable to all employees; from those already in leadership roles, to those that strive to lead-up and create a work culture of excellence.

Dare to Be Great is a philosophy focused on growing the courage to embrace excellence, fight mediocrity, say no to the status quo, and strive for greatness in your life, your leadership and your organization. Now, more than ever, we need courageous leaders who are committed to the pursuit of excellence in their own lives and committed to inspiring greatness in the men and women they serve in their organizations. Professional (non-sworn) staff are critical to the function and success of every law enforcement agency and are in key leadership roles throughout your agency.

Greatness, like leadership, is a choice and a process. It takes time, it takes work, and it takes commitment. The benefits, however, are significant and are well worth the time and effort.

This engaging, interactive and reflective workshop will explore a series of questions to help you on your journey to becoming a leader in your agency, regardless of your position and title. Dare to be Great builds on two foundational questions and three rules, which will serve as a guide for making courageous, ethical decisions. It is also built on the principle that while not everyone is in a formal leadership position, everyone is in a position to lead.

Additional questions will challenge you to reflect on:

  • Why you chose to step up and be a leader in your agency?
  • What influences your leadership style?
  • What is it like to be lead by you?
  • How do you measure your success as a leader?
  • Is leadership a course, or a culture in your agency?
  • What are you ignoring? What are you condoning? What are you tolerating?
