Meeting and Event Highlights for the Week of September 9, 2024
posted- "Ask Me Anything" Event on the City Budget, Wednesday, September 11, 2024: The City of Madison is hosting an “Ask Me Anything” virtual public meeting on the 2025 budget and funding referendum on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Madison Finance Director Dave Schmiedicke and staff from the Mayor’s Office will answer questions about the City budget.
Boards, Commissions, and Committee Meetings

- Plan Commission: The Plan Commission meeting will take place on Monday, September 9, 2024, at 5:30 PM in virtual format. Agenda items include development related requests in Districts 2, 3, 6, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, and 18.
- Common Council: The Common Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 6:30 PM in hybrid format. Agenda items include adopting the West Area Plan, adopting the Northeast Area Plan, and allowing affordable student housing to exceed the maximum number of stories downtown.
- Board of Public Works: The Board of Public Works meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 4:30 PM in virtual format. Agenda items include establishing the Pumpkin Hollow Neighborhood Sanitary Sewer Improvement Impact Fee, as well as establishing soil infiltration design standards.
- Board of Park Commissioners: The Board of Park Commissioners meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 6:30 PM in virtual format. Agenda items include approval of a report establishing archaeological review and investigation process for park development projects at Vilas Park, as well as a number of 2025 fees.

- Moon Over Monona Terrace - Friday, September 13, 2024: Young and old alike are invited to view the Moon and other celestial objects, such as Jupiter, Neptune, and Saturn, through a multitude of different telescopes provided by the Madison Astronomical Society (MAS). FREE ticket required for admission.
- Bird & Nature Adventures (Owen Conservation Park) - Saturday, September 14, 2024: Join Arboretum Naturalist Sylvia Marek for a guided tour to look for Monarch Butterflies along easy hiking trails in the restored prairies and woodlands at Owen Park that are full of blooming native wildflowers.
