Meet Firefighter/EMT Paul Foster
postedWhere are you stationed?
Station 10 (Troy Drive) on the 'B' shift.
What do you like about your station and territory?
My favorite parts about working at Station 10 are the crew and territory. The crew here at 10B has taught me a lot and are fun to work with. The territory gets a wide range of calls and provides good experience for a new guy. Itβs a great station for a rookie because it keeps you busy and on your toes.
What has been your most memorable experience with the department so far?
Getting to meet and know all the different people that make up the MFD. Learning from people with diverse backgrounds and wide ranges of experience and knowledge is very valuable.
How have your skills and knowledge from past jobs or experiences come in handy at MFD?
I have always been a very active person and have many interests and hobbies. I enjoy the constant learning this job requires and the fact that every day is different. I think being involved in athletics all my life, as well as spending some time in the military, prepared me to work well in a team environment and adapt appropriately to unique situations.
Looking back at the recruit academy, what do you remember most?
I think the most memorable part of the academy is the friendships that are made throughout. Being new to the fire service, the academy was a lot of information in a short period of time. Being able to lean on fellow recruits and work together day in and day out builds a special bond.
