I am not seeking re-election.

Dear friends and neighbors, 

I am writing today to share that I will not be seeking re-election this spring. This was a decision that I grappled with for many months. We have made such great progress in the last few years and serving the residents of District 2 is something that I deeply treasure. As someone with deep-rooted principles in community, I am holding space for bittersweet acknowledgement of the feeling of pride for the work that has been completed, responsibility for what is left unfinished, and releasing that responsibility to the faith I have in the next cohort of leaders. 

As many saw at the last Council meeting, I am carrying extremely heavy buckets that warrant my attention. I very much look forward to spending quality time with my dad, transitioning to the next step in my commitment to public service, and finally getting to just be 25 years old. 

There is much to be done between now and spring, and beyond! I look forward to serving as a supporter and mentor to the candidate(s) that have filed for District 2 and am confident that the next District 2 alder will continue the legacy of serving with grace, integrity, and bold leadership with a strong commitment to progressive change. In the meantime, you can count on me to continue meeting the needs of District 2 and Madison residents.
