Snowplow Name Submissions End on January 24 at 4:00pm

posted

The first phase of this year’s snow equipment naming is ends in one week.

You have until 4:00pm on January 24, 2025 at 4:00pm to submit your snowplow name ideas so they can be considered as finalists for the naming election that will be hosted in February by Wisconsin Salt Wise.

How’s it Going So Far?

We’ve received over 750 suggestions and the number keeps rising.  Your creativity has been astounding.

The ideas have been about a little bit of anything and everything from the world of pop culture.

Names have been wintry spins on sports legends, video games, musicians, movie stars, literature, historic figures, dinosaurs, cartoons, rap lyrics, and even dialogue from a Star Trek: The Next Generation episode. We’ve received some names that are just plain silly and fun all on their own.  And, of course, we got some cheese puns, too.

Names that are popular with other cities and states that have named snow equipment plows, and therefore quite popular online, are well represented, too.  We’ve received multiple suggestions for Big Leplowski, CTRL+SALT+DELETE, and Plowy McPlowface.

The one idea we’re still missing is yours.

How to Submit Your Name Ideas

Send an email with your ideas to dropoff@cityofmadison.com.
