Nature as a Classroom ~ Join Beth Whitaker for a free family friendly Guided Walk to see Owen Park for yourself and places where projects are happening such as the Bluebird Trail boxes around restored prairies where Bumblebee Brigade and Monarch Tagging Research are being done. Follow easy trails in the Woodland Kettle and Morain where a UW student is doing interesting local non-venomous Snake Studies. Visit the Owen Conservation Park Ponds where the UW Limnology Department is doing research into Managing Runoff and Water Quality. See the Friends of Owen Park Facebook page for volunteer opportunities to help with some of these projects and learn first-hand about Prairie and Woodland Restoration!

Explore Owen Conservation Park on gentle trails through historic oak openings on a hillside with an Ice Age kettle and along restored prairies with beautiful vistas on this high point overlooking the west side of Madison. Co-sponsored by Madison Parks and the Friends of Owen Conservation Park. Free, family-friendly guided nature walks at Owen Conservation Park are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month, year-round 2:30-4pm. No registration is required. No pets are allowed.
