Event Description

Foraging Meditation ~ Join Naturalist Sean Gere for a free fun educational family friendly walk along a beautifully restored stretch of Starkweather Creek between Carpenter Ridge and MATC. Sean will give you an introduction to Foraging and Meditation. Learn about meditation in nature and traditional food sources with native Wisconsin plants, trees and mushrooms. Personal foraging is permitted in non-Conservation parks but please be sure to leave lots for the birds and wildlife that depend on natural sources of food and micronutrients. Free, welcoming, diverse, fairly accessible, family friendly, educational, no registration required, no pets. Kids under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Meeting Location: Carpenter Ridgeway Park. 1220 Carpenter Street, Carpenter Ridge Park, meet at the park kiosk, bring water, no bathrooms on site
Outings in the Starkweather Creek area vary each month - be sure to check the starting location. Adventures typically at 10:00am on the 3rd Saturday of the month, year-round, and frequently start at the Goodman Community Center, unless noted otherwise. Outings include nature walks, canoe/kayak adventures, bicycling tours, and more, and are sponsored by the Madison Friends of Urban Nature , Madison Parks, Goodman Community Center , Madison Audubon Society , and Friends of Starkweather Creek . No registration is required. Pets are not allowed.
