Project Information

Each year, the City of Madison Parks Division bids a maintenance contract through Public Works for crack filling, resurfacing and re-striping of color (generally green) sport courts including basketball, pickleball, tennis at various locations throughout the parks system.

In 2024, this work is proposed at the following locations:

  • Goodman Park 2-court basketball
  • Huegel Park 2-court tennis (note: the light green youth tennis lines will be replaced with blue pickleball lines with this work)
  • Quann Park tennis complex.  Courts 1-3, 7-9 & 10-12 (note: courts 7-9 will be power-washed only)

Sport court resurfacing work requires mean daytime and overnight temperatures of at least 55 degrees plus extended periods of dry weather - so scheduling the specific locations will occur throughout the contract time period and may be delayed or slowed by inclement weather.  Parks staff will work to post notice of anticipated court closures at the various sites and to this website as the contract progresses.

Updates on this project will be posted to this site as they become available.  If you have any questions about the project, please contact Kate Kane at kkane@cityofmadison.com or (608) 261-9671

Project Updates

October 22, 2024 Update

Parks will be re-bidding this project, possibly with a revised scope, in 2025.

May 2, 2024 Update

Unfortunately, the rebid of the sport court maintenance contract resulted in the receipt of two bids, both of which exceeded the budget available to perform the work.  Parks will be re-examining the proposed project sites and scope to determine whether and if sport court maintenance work will be performed at these locations this year.

April 10, 2024 Update

The sport court maintenance contract received a single bid on 4/4/2024.  Due to the single bid received, a determination was made through Public Works to rebid the project (under contract 9525) on 4/11/2024 & 4/18/2024, with a proposed opening date of 4/25/2024.  This will push the start of work back approximately 3 weeks, to mid June.  Work is anticipated to occur throughout the summer months and be completed in early fall.
