Walk and Bike Education
The City along with its many partners offer a number of opportunities to increase knowledge on walking, biking and overall mobility.
- Walking Wisdom – Would your elementary school like to offer pedestrian safety education? Reach out to the City of Madison Pedestrian Bicycle Outreach Specialist to learn more.
- Wisconsin Bike Fed’s Summer Adventure Bike Camps – Each summer the Wisconsin Bike Fed hosts summer day camps in Madison to build on their Bike Driver’s Ed curriculum with more bike riding to fun destinations.
- Madison School Community Recreation (MSCR) – Learn 2 Ride classes are held each summer to provide easy, hands-on techniques to get children riding solo on two wheels.
- Bike Driver’s Ed – This program is offered to Middle Schools to help students learn better bike handling skills and road safety awareness. Reach out to the City of Madison Pedestrian Bicycle Outreach Specialist to learn more.
- Teaching Safe Bicycling – Each year the Wisconsin Bike Fed provides a variety of Train the Trainer classes to help organizations host their own Bike Rodeo. The City can provide materials to Madison organizations who are hosting bike rodeos. Email walk-bike@cityofmadison.com for more information.
- High School Programming – The Wisconsin Bike Fed has launched a new effort to promote Safe Routes to School and active transportation in high schools. Learn more by contacting the Wisconsin Bike Fed.
